His And Hers Festive Fashion...

 Obligatory Christmas Jumper...

I can't quite believe it's nearly that time of year again when we're looking to purchase our obligatory Christmas Jumpers!! It seems that over the last few years, Christmas clobber has become somewhat of a trend with all kinds of unexpected people.. Not only are people wearing them for the novelty factor; but to compete in the festive fashion stakes too!!

Here are some of my absolute favourites this year.. I seriously cannot wait until 1st December when I can start wearing mine :)

Go Crazy For Statement Necklaces!!

The Importance Of Making A Statement...

I just can't get enough of these fabulous statement necklaces.. They are the one sure thing that I would recommend any girl to purchase as an 'investment buy!!' Team with a classic shirt or basic tee and they can instantly update an outfit.. And if there's ever a time when you just can't afford to buy yourself a brand new outfit then try investing in a statement necklace to go with your classic little black dress...

Below are some great statement finds available in stores now.. My favourite is the Marks and Spencer black and gold one.. Love it's vintage look - Like you've borrowed it from your grandma's jewellery box :) And it's perfect for the baroque trend that is big this party season!!! Love love love...

Purple Is The New Black...

Going All Purple...

Purple was the statement colour all over the A/W 2012 catwalks and the pieces shown in this article are no exception to the rich and juicy colour admired by many celebs on recent dates!! As an alternative to wearing black, the colour oozes fun and naughtiness from the traditional standard black.

I just love the suede bow gloves by River Island.. The perfect thing to accessorise your plain leather biker jacket!!

British Heritage Style Reigns!!!

The Country Bumpkin...

I've been shooting a lot of country heritage style pieces over the last few weeks.. Lots of tweed, owl prints, rustic colours, brown leather and checks to list just a few of the designs and prints going through the retailers at the moment.. The trend has been in the shops for quite a while now but is still the classic British trend directly inspired from our beautiful British countryside. Think Kate Middleton on a country weekend retreat and you're half way there!! To wear it well, you have to be smart yet relaxed in your colourings - no bright colours anywhere to be seen and black is too boring!! Classic accessories such as a trilby or a pair of leather gloves will add instant chic and credibility to any heritage inspired piece.

The article below shows some fabulous heritage pieces available in stores now...

Lust for Leather - Autumn/Winter 2012

Lust for Leather...

I purchased a leather biker jacket from Asos around 7 years ago now and OH MY has it had its fair share of wear.. I think I have worn it around this time of year, every single year since then.. It has taken me from one trend to another and is probably one of the most versatile things in my wardrobe. I do still love it, like the day that I purchased it.. And if I'm honest, I'll probably still wear it in 10 years time if it fits me.

This article below shows some fantastic leather pieces available on the high street this Autumn/Winter.. I absolutely love the main picture of the model wearing the leather dress by Autograph at Marks and Spencers for the great price of £69. Love how it is styled with the extra long gloves and sexy black ankle boots, making it look more high end designer than high street fix.

As this article highlights, leather is still going to be in high demand this Autumn/Winter and I'm a great believer that if you buy leather garments that are basic and not too overly fancy. They can be a really good investment to your wardrobe collection and something that you can easily slot into a range of different Autumn/Winter trends that can still be worn year after year. Leather has been around for such a long long time and it looks like it's here to stay... Yay!!

The Big XXX Jumper Dress!!

New Jumper Dress by Matalan..

It's soon going to be that time of year again when we are begrudgingly reaching for our warm chunky knitwear, as the ever so predictable cold British Winter time finally sets in.. However, being warm can also be cool and fashionable.. And this amazing jumper dress by Matalan is the perfect piece to add to your Autumn/Winter wardrobe. I love it's oversized monochrome feel and cool retro pop XXX logo. Mix it up with these amazing bright blue suede boots by Ravel for an Edie Sedgwick 60's vibe..

Available this Autumn/Winter at Matalan and Ravel

A/W 2012 - Metallic Jaquard

Shine Your Way Into Next Season..

One trend I am very excited about for Autumn/Winter 2012 is the jacquard metallics trend.. It seems wearing a sequin dress, skirt or top is just not enough anymore and a clashing of textures and prints, including metallics and jacquard is the way to shine shine shine this Autumn/Winter. I purchased myself a jacquard jacket from H and M in the sale last week and now I can't wait to whip it out for a clashing!! This article below shows a selection of high street must haves available in stores this Autumn/Winter... Especially love the baroque high waist shorts by River Island £30.

A Fashionista's Barmy Army...

Army Style Girl...

Seems like every girl in Manchester is wearing an army jacket these days.. The trend has caught on massively over the last few weeks and whilst people watching the other day, it was just like watching a fashion army of girls congregate in the fashionable city. I too have been wearing my leather armed designer copy from Primark, as seen below and have been stopped by hundreds (well not hundreds but quite a few people) to ask where it was from... Well, it was Primark and a steal at £25!!

Fashion Clothes Swap Frenzie!!!

Swap That Dress For Something Special...

I went to my first clothes swap party at the weekend.. And WOW was I impressed!! I must admit I was abit aprehensive before I went. I'm quite protective over my clothes and handing them over to the lovely girl behind the desk was a hard task for me complete!! All kinds of things were going through my head.. Do I really want to give them away? Am I going to miss them? Will I wear them again one day? Will I find anything good enough that I like? Am I going to regret this? The good thing was I was pleasantly surprised!! I took some of my old vintage numbers down to The Shipping Forecast in Liverpool and managed to swap them for some high street beauties!! There was a big choice in items, vintage, high street, designer, shoes, jewellry and accessories and all were in excellent condition.

The girls that organised the event were from the fashion website www.myfashionjunkie.com and they were really helpful and enthusiastic when it came to swapping the clothes. They gave me a good price swap for my items and told me that if I didn't find anything I could keep my points and use them online or at another event.. Phew!! I wasn't going to be left with something I didn't really like!! I'd definitely recommend a fashion swap party and might even try to organise one myself soon. The perfect thing about them is that you can swap your clothes amongst your friends. Everyone has things in their wardrobe that they're either bored of, don't fit into anymore or have never even worn because it was definitely a spur of the moment buy that you knew at the time you should not have bought!!

Well as the famous saying says.. One man's tat is another man's treasure!!! And in the case, it really was true!!!! :O)

Holidays & Festivals - The British Way!

Festival Fashion...

Well July has been a busy month for me in term of holidays!!!! I went to the beautiful Island of Ibiza at the start of the month with my wannabe superstar DJ boyfriend and then to the FIB Music Festival in Benicassim, Spain with my beautiful girls friends. Both were amazing holidays and was just what I needed after working so hard the months before!! I love all the preparation before a big holiday, its all the usuals.. Swimwear, check. Sunglasses, check. Beachbag, check. Cover up, check. But I also love buying the staple items that make up my Summer wardrobe and blissfully arranging them into outfits, hanging them on my wardrobe doors and laying them neatly on my bed... How sad!! You'd think I would get bored of shopping as my styling job consists of quite alot of shopping on a day to day basis.. But nope, I didn't and as the holiday season begins, I'm first to step foot in the gym, frantically trying to tone up haha!! Then onto the shops to buy the first thing thats always on the top of my list... An extravagant Summer hat!! (This year it was Topshop's navy and cream large brim hat with cut out head section - I've always wanted one of these since I was 7 years old and saw Kylie wearing one on the front of her 1988 album cover 'Kylie') Also, without doubt a must have for me.. An amazing swimsuit ( I just cant bare to wear a bikini anymore and there are so many fabulous swimsuits to choose from out there, I just can't seem to resist!! Just look at some of these beauties... www.mouille.co.uk )

This year my staple pieces were geared towards a more festival feel. White cotton boho tops, denim shorts, cropped tees and as always.. A vintage inspired dress!! These carried me through daytime events such as the Zoo Project and DC10 in Ibiza to sitting on the gravel watching Vampire Weekend at Benicassim. There is so much I love about going on holiday in terms of fashion. Once I'm there, people watching is my absolute favourite pass time and I love to see what outfits others have put together for their very own holiday haven!! I think you can always spot a Brit from the outfits they're wearing. British Summer style has become very relaxed and breezy. With the high street doing so many cool Summer pieces now, its not hard to find the things you like in a second of walking through Topshop or shopping online at Asos!! Ibiza is a great place to get fashion inspiration because of the many different Europeans that holiday there. The music scene brings alot of fashion forward people together smoozing around some of the most talked about beach bars and clubs in the whole of Europe!!

I found it absolutely fascinating that out of the 10 girls I went with to Benicassim, all of whom shop mainly on the high street. Each one of us had our own individual style that was perfect for the laid back setting of the festival. We most definitely shop in the same places so God knows how none of us bought the same things!! I suppose that's the beauty of the high street, that it is so fast at turning around fashion and there is so much choice!! Although It's always quite funny when you spot two girls that have just noticed that they are wearing the same dress!! How they react to that situation can either make things really embarrassing or quite liberating to know someone likes what you're wearing!! It's happened to me on a couple of ocassions and I have always given the thumbs up and complimented them on their esqusit taste :O)

I know everyone says this about Alexa but she rarely gets it wrong when it comes to being individual. Just by choosing a quirky pair of shoes or adding a vintage hat or unusual scarf to her particularly ordinary style. Makes her stand out from the crowd and be the first on the fashion pages of all the mags!! Well, its not just the odd accessory that makes her the style icon that she is, I think the pretty face, soft no nonsense hair and legs that go on forever, also play a part on how she pulls things off so easily and looks so great in what she wears!! Ahh well we can only but dream........
